Baltimore Homes in Patterson Park

Patterson Park is a 155 acre park with rolling greens, walking trails, a swimming pool, ice rink, a pond, baseball fields, tennis and basketball courts all in the heart of Baltimore City. This park was once the location where over 20,000 troops stood atop the hill with cannons aimed at the approaching British troops during their invasion of Baltimore. During their invasion of Baltimore, British troops sailed into the inner harbor and entered land near Fort McHenry. The British marched towards Baltimore and at the present day location of the Pagoda on Patterson Park, British forces realized that they were literally fighting an uphill battle. Discouraged, the British troop retreated and sailed off.

The Patterson Park neighborhood is nestled just north of Canton and to the south of Johnís Hopkins Medical Center, with the park serving as its southern border. Patterson Park has a very active community association that encourages revitalization in this area. Tree planting, neighborhood crime prevention walks (citizens on patrol), and improving the overall quality of life in Patterson Park remains top priority. Since the mid 1990s, community development initiatives have been in place to promote buying vacant homes for sale in Patterson Park and restoring them. Both public and private grants and funding remain in place to help those considering buying a home in Patterson Park.

Most of the real estate in Patterson Park consists of homes ranging from 1,000-1,300 square feet of living space. Some of the largest homes in Patterson Park are located on Baltimore Street and face Patterson Park. These 2,000-2,500 square feet homes sit directly across from Patterson Park and have some of the best views of this recreational area.
